Working Out and Taking Names

Happy Tuesday everyone! I hope you all had a great Memorial Day Weekend!

So I know that I mention this over and over again, but yes, I’m getting married in October, which means I want to look like a slammin’ hottie in my wedding gown in October. Okay, “slammin’ hottie” isn’t exactly what I’m going for–I really want to look like some sort of glittery princess angel (hey, that’s one of the perks of being a bride), and so I’m doing my best to get my body in good shape for that.

In addition to wanting to be the glittery princess angel, I know that soon after we get married, C and I will be trying to start a family, which is a much more important reason to be getting my butt (and the rest of me) in gear. So, starting yesterday, I embarked on a 6-week workout journey.

If you follow me on Pinterest (and you really should be lol), then you’ve seen that I’ve been pinning a whole bunch of workout-related pins lately, looking for the one that’s the best fit for me. Finally, I found this pin from Skinny Ms.

I really like this plan because it works in days of Cross Training in between walking/running. On those days, I plan to do weights at the gym and/or yoga.

So here’s my proof of Day One yesterday:

I’ll check in from time to time to let you know how I’m doing! Have any of you found a great workout on Pinterest?

Five on Friday: Memorial Day Weekend Edition

Happy Friday everyone!

Can I just start by saying I don’t know when I’ve last been so happy for it to be Friday? Seriously, this has been a giant disaster of a week, so it’s going to be a CHORE trying to think of 5 positive things to mention, but I’ll do my very best and keep remembering that it’s a three-day weekend.

1. Bridesmaid Gift #1!

Last week, I got an email that one of my gifts for my bridesmaids had arrived at the store, so I took a rather lengthy drive on Sunday to fetch them. Totally worth the drive, however, because they’re adorable! I’d tell you more, but I know that at least one of my bridesmaids reads the blog regularly, so in her words, I “betta not.” 😉

2. Registry–Decided!

I was going back and forth for a while about where to register. I knew that I wanted to register at, but besides that I was torn. Finally, after a trip to Bed, Bath and Beyond, I was sold! So when people want to buy me pretty pretty wedding gifts, they can do so from or Bed, Bath and Beyond!

3. Revisiting Archer

When I was home sick on Tuesday (part of my crappy crappy week), I started rewatching the series Archer. Through my fever and hacking coughs, I was laughing more than I had in a long time. That show totally holds up.

4. Winner Winner!

Our trivia team “Blue Steel” won this week! I was able to help with several questions, but seriously, did anyone else think that Dancing With the Stars was more popular than The Bachelor according to Nielsen ratings? Ridiculous.

5. Flower Power!

My flower girl’s dress came in this week! It’s so gorgeous, and I can’t wait to show it off in post-wedding recaps!

Linking up with my ladies, and Happy Memorial Day!

Book Review: America’s Best Breakfasts

Happy Thursday everyone! Who’s ready for breakfast?

Now, I must admit that I very rarely eat a typical breakfast. I’m very much a get up, grab coffee and get out the door gal, and sadly, that means that breakfast often falls by the wayside. I am, however, a HUGE fan of brinner (breakfast for dinner), and luckily, so is my future husband.

So when I saw that Blogging for Books needed reviews of a breakfast cookbook, I thought, “Brinners galore!!”

America’s Best Breakfasts: Favorite Local Recipes from Coast to Coast is truly a treasure chest of breakfast goodies! It has a great balance of classics like Shrimp and Grits to more daring meals like Kimchi Pancakes.

As I looked (okay, drooled) through the book, I came upon two recipes that I definitely want to try. One is for Fruit Tart Pop-Tarts because I’d love to say that I can make my own Pop-Tarts that taste better than the toaster version. The other is for Graham Cracker Waffles which…wait for it…have marshmallows on top. Seriously, stop drooling on your keyboards.

Take some time in the morning (or at least a weekend morning) for breakfast, and check out America’s Best Breakfasts. I think I know how my Memorial Day morning is going to start (Graham Cracker Waffles, anyone?).

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for a review from Blogging for BooksAll opinions are my own.

Wedding Wednesday: Proposing to the Bridesmaids

Happy Wednesday one and all!

Proposing to...

I came up for the idea for what I would do to ask my bridesmaids after choosing my ring. The pearl had become so sentimental to me now, and I wanted to include it somehow in my bridesmaid proposal.

In addition to using a pearl, I knew something else: I wanted to ask my bridesmaids quickly. We had set our wedding date for October 15th, so I knew that they would need to buy their dresses soon. Oh, and I should mention that as I was deciding these things, I was still at the beach in the middle of nowhere, so this would all have to be done online.

“Okay,” I thought, “where can I find the perfect bridesmaid gift with a pearl that I can get quickly?” Duh, Amazon.

And then I found it! A Lucky Stringlets bracelet that included the instructions for the wearer of the bracelet to tie three knots and make a wish for each knot. When the pearl eventually falls off, their wishes would come true!

I Amazon-Primed those babies, and they were waiting for me at the house when I got home. The only thing I needed now was a card to go with them. Enter the amazingness of Target.

These cards were perfect for having just come back from the beach (with the proposal in the sand). I wrote a little poem inside for each girl (I’m a sucker for rhymes), and that was that!

I’m so glad that each of my six gals said yes, and they truly are the best!

10 on Tuesday: 10 Sick TV Episodes

Hi everyone! Sorry for the lack of post yesterday. I wasn’t feeling well but powered through and tried to work…and then left me feeling worse last night, so I finally decided to bite the bullet and take a sick day.

To cheer myself up, however, I thought I’d write about 10 episodes of my favorite shows when characters were sick. At the very least, I thought it’d give me a chuckle while I eat chicken soup and drink tea.

1. Friends, “The One with the Chicken Pox”

Phoebe’s Navy hookup (played by Charlie Sheen) is in town for 2 weeks…and that’s when she contracts chicken pox.

2. Grey’s Anatomy, “What I Am”

Meredith has appendicitis and has to go into surgery. On the plus side, drugged-up Meredith exclaiming “All my boyfriends are here!” to McDreamy and McVet is hilarious.

3. It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, “The Gang Gets Quarantined”

When a flu epidemic is running rampant in the city, Frank quarantines the gang in the bar. They all start to show symptoms, which turns out aren’t the flu…they’re suffering from lack of alcohol.

4. Friends, “The One with Joey’s New Girlfriend”

Phoebe gets laryngitis, which gives her a sexy new voice. Monica does not handle being sick quite as well, but no one can help her because Ross and Rachel are too busy trying to make the other jealous.

5. The Office, “The Injury”

Michael steps on a George Foreman grill as he’s getting out of bed in the morning. Seriously.

6. Happy Endings, “Cazsh Dummy Spillionaires”

Max helps Penny recover from her fall down several flights of stairs…but he’s helping by hitting on her physical therapist.

7. Friends, “The One With Rachel’s Sister”

While Ross is out on a date with Rachel’s sister (Reese Witherspoon), Monica is trying to prove that she’s not sick.

8. The Big Bang Theory, “The Pancake Batter Anamoly”

Sheldon has a cold (gasp!) and he gets Penny to sing him “Soft Kitty,” which is amazing.

9. Boy Meets World, “The Last Temptation of Cory”

When Topanga is sick, Cory goes to a party and a girl kisses him. Topanga understands that it wasn’t his fault, but as punishment, she kisses him to get him sick.

10. How I Met Your Mother, “How Lily Stole Christmas”

Barney is sick, but like Monica in “The One with Rachel’s Sister”, he won’t admit it.

Five on Friday

Happy Friday Folks!

It’s the end of the week, so here is a recap of random thoughts, feelings and stuff that went down:

1. Gilmore Mama!

Y’all, Alexis Bledel is a mom!!!! In real life, Rory Gilmore had a baby baby LAST FALL, which just fills my heart with so much joy (and makes me SO impressed that she kept it a secret for so long)! It also gets me even more jazzed for the Gilmore Girls revamp–is that ready to roll yet??

2.  !@&#$@ Roadwork!

On the main road approaching our office, there has been roadwork going on for at least two weeks now. Every day I hope and pray that it’ll be done, and yet each day, it seems to screw up traffic more and more. What was originally a minor inconvenience has become a reason why I really want to telecommute everyday.

3. Coughing Symphony

C, our roommate and I have ALL been sick for the past week, so our house is basically just a mix of coughing, sneezing, and sniffling. This is tough for the Big Pup, since he’s scared of sneezing, so he has been trying to be supportive but has also been cowering in corners.

4. Mexican Stuffed Peppers

Screen Shot 2016-05-19 at 1.23.53 PM

C and I cooked together on Sunday night (before the dreaded sickness hit) and made these amazing stuffed peppers. Thanks so much to Spend with Pennies for the recipe!

5. Clean It Up!

Okay, I must must MUST get some cleaning done this weekend. I’ve been putting it off forever and using every excuse in the book, but excuse time is over, and if I ever want to have new pretty things in my house after a bridal shower (even though it’s still a few months away), I need to make sure my home looks good now.

3 Things to Do, Try and Buy

Happy Thursday everyone!

I originally saw the idea for today’s post in a blog post from As Told By Ash and Shelbs. I’m always a fan of posts that break down things I want to share by numbers, so here’s a simple way for me to tell you about something I need to do, something I want to try and something I need to buy!

To Do: Go to the York Flea Market

This Saturday is a flea market in York, PA. I’ve always loved going to flea markets. The best best BEST one that I ever went to was in Hawaii, but I’m pretty sure that it’s an event that I can’t go to every year, so hopefully I’ll enjoy the one in Pennsylvania just as much.

What am I looking for there? Probably some knick-knacks to use as decorations for the wedding, but you never know what you’ll find!

To Try: Quinoa

All the foodie bloggers just fell over in their chairs, I know. I’m pretty sure that I’ve had quinoa in things before, but I’m just not sure. As someone who is trying to eat healthier, I know that quinoa is a great ingredient to use in recipes…but I’m a little scared. Will I like it?

To Buy: A Ring-Bearer Box

I decided against the ring bearer pillow, mainly because my ring-bearer will still be 2 years old at the time of the wedding, and I feel like he needs something sturdy for the rings. Also, it’s definitely going to need a clasp of some sort, and it can’t be TOO big because he has tiny hands, and more likely than not, he’ll hand the box to his mom (my MOH).

Here are a few I’ve liked so far…thoughts?

What are some things that you need to do, try and buy?

Wedding Wednesday: Meet the Maids!

Happy Wedding Wednesday everyone! It’s officially 150 days until the BIG DAY! I can’t believe it!

Today I’m going to talk about some of the most amazing women in my life right now, my bridesmaids. I have been dreaming for years about getting married and having bridesmaids, but I had no idea how fantastic these chicas would be! Here’s a little background on each one!

My Matron of Honor: Leslie

How We Met: Leslie and I met during my first month at Florida State University…almost 18 years ago. I had just gotten a job at Bill’s Bookstore, and she had been working there for a year. I liked her from moment one, and we became fast friends.

My Favorite Leslie Memory: In 18 years of friendship, there are SO many memories to choose from, but one of my favorites will always be the time we almost kicked someone out of her truck for saying negative things about Bon Jovi (the nerve of some people!).

Why She’s Awesome: Leslie has truly been there for me through thick and thin. She’s made me laugh and seen me cry. And most importantly, she’s given it to me straight about my past relationships, and so when she said, “I like C”, then I knew he was a keeper 😉

My Bridesmaid: Macy

How We Met: Macy and I met when she was 14 and I was 25. She lived in my parents’ neighborhood and took over my summer job for me at Ultimate Watersports. Years later, I was so excited that we would be working for a tech start-up together again.

My Favorite Macy Memory: Celebrating her 21st birthday! That night was full of craziness, but every time I think about it, I can’t help but laugh!

Why She’s Awesome: Macy is such a true friend. I know that I can tell her anything and that she’ll be empathetic when I need it and will completely crack me up when I need a laugh. Plus, she shares my obsessions with pop culture, Starbucks and Target, and she never judges when I get WAY to upset about the Kardashians.

My Bridesmaid: Brooke

How We Met: Brooke’s husband Corey and I worked together at Ultimate Watersports, and once she and I met, I knew we would be great friends.

My Favorite Brooke Memory: Road-tripping to Florida! We had the most amazing talks and laughed soooo much as she and Corey joined me on a road trip to Alligator Point.

Why She’s Awesome: Brooke is so incredibly strong. I was proud to stand beside her when she got married but I’ve been even prouder of her as she has raised twin boys and a little girl over the past 6 years. What an amazing mama!

My Bridesmaid: Caitlin

Screen Shot 2016-05-17 at 9.49.00 AM

How We Met: Caitlin and I met when we both worked for an educational publishing company. When she introduced herself, Caitlin mentioned that she had a shih tzu (as do I), so that got us off on the right foot!

My Favorite Caitlin Memory: At our office Christmas party, Caitlin had a couple of glasses of champagne and then felt the need to give a speech! She then admitted that she does that when she’s had some drinks–and I would be totally fine with that happening at the wedding!

Why She’s Awesome: Caitlin is a ball of positivity and enthusiasm! If I need a smile, she is the one I turn to. On the flip side, if I’m angry at someone, she will come up with the best words to describe how I wish I could annihilate them. Oh, and she can decorate cupcakes like a CHAMP!

My Bridesmaid: Kim

Screen Shot 2016-05-17 at 9.46.39 AM

How We Met: Kim is C’s cousin, and when I first attended a Christmas Eve party at C’s parents’ house, Kim introduced herself to me and said, “C is not going to introduce you to people. Let me handle it.” Sure enough, Kim brought family members to me, one by one, and made sure I knew everyone by the end of the night!

My Favorite Kim Memory: At a family graduation party, there was a moon bounce. Kim grabbed my hand and said, “The kids are distracted! We’re going in the moon bounce!” And I did lol!

Why She’s Awesome: Kim and I have a ridiculous amount in common, and I could tell that from minute one. I always have so much fun when I’m with her, and I can’t wait for her to be my cousin!

My Bridesmaid: Molly

Screen Shot 2016-05-17 at 9.45.37 AM

How We Met: Molly is C’s niece, and we met at the first family Christmas Eve party (thanks to an intro by Kim lol). We eventually became great friends after spending Wednesday nights at Trivia together.

My Favorite Molly Memory: Our Philadelphia trip! We ate donuts at Federal Donuts and visited the Philadelphia Zoo! I feel like I learned so much about my future family that day, and I was sooooo hoping that C would propose soon (which he did!)

Why She’s Awesome: Molly and I bond over music, books and adorable animals! I have always wanted a niece, and I feel SO lucky that Molly will be my niece!

My Disney Faves!

Happy Tuesday everyone!

Last week, Myra over at The Little Aslam wrote a FANTASTIC post chronicling her Disney favorites! So today I decided to write about my Disney faves because, come on, what makes a Tuesday more tolerable better than Disney?!

Favorite Disney Film

Ughhhhh, seriously? I would have to choose? If I absolutely had to choose, I think it would be Beauty and the Beast. I could watch this one a thousand times and still feel my heart swell during the ballroom scene.

Favorite Disney Character(s)

Hmmmm, I have to pick 3 here. One would be Flynn from Tangled, mainly because he’s voiced by Zachary Levi, whose singing voice is amazing.

Two is Dory from Finding Nemo because she’s adorably hilarious.

And three is the Genie from Aladdin because he’s hilariously hilarious.

Favorite Disney Princess

While Rapunzel from Tangled is so related to me, I still think my favorite is Belle from Beauty and the Beast.

Favorite Disney Sidekick

Again, the Genie.

Favorite Disney Song

“I See the Light” from Tangled. Spoiler alert: I’m walking down the aisle to this at my wedding (all the heart-eye emojis!)

Which Disney Character Would Be Your Best Friend?

Rapunzel. She’s goofy, sweet and wide-eyed–we could definitely be BFFs.

Who Would Be Your Disney Pet?

The Footstool from Beauty and the Beast! Probably because I think of it as the cartoon furniture version of Linus.

Have You Ever Been to Disneyland?

Sadly, no, but I’m hoping to run a race there soon!

Who is Your Favorite Disney Villain?

Scar from The Lion King is terrifying, but I think that my favorite is Iago from Aladdin (because he’s evil and funny).

Do You Collect Any Special Disney Things?

Not reallllly, but I used to have a music box of Cinderella’s Castle!

What Disney Film Would You Star in if You Could?

Probably Tangled, so that I could meet Zachary Levi behind the scenes.

How Old Were You When You Watched Your First Disney Movie?

I’m sure I was only a couple years old when I watched Bambi, but I remember seeing The Little Mermaid in theaters when I was about 8 or 9.

Who is Your Favorite Disney Couple?

Rapunzel and Flynn <3

What are your Disney favorites??

My 101 in 1001: Update #2!

Happy Monday, guys and gals!

It’s been 3 months since the last 101 in 1001 check in, and here we are in May! Time to update you on all that I’ve checked off my list since the last check-in!

Visit the Best Zoos (1/10)

No new zoos in the past three months. I had wanted to go to the Bronx Zoo when I was in NYC for Mother’s Day, but the weather had been so iffy that I thought it would be best to save it for another time.

Eat the Best Pizza (0/10)

For someone who is supposedly a pizza monster, I’m really falling down on the job here.

Drink the Best Coffee (2/10)

Checked one off of this list! In February, I had a delicious latte from Everyman Espresso in NYC!

Visit the Best Bookstores (1/10)

I got to visit Mercer Street Books and Records in NYC (right down the street from Everyman Espresso). Although the store was a bit cramped for my liking, I did marvel over a old illustrated copy of the works of Shakespeare and contemplated purchasing it. My shoulders, however, let me know that they would not put up with such a heavy load all day, and so it remained in the store.

Visit 10 Castles in the U.S. (1/10)

I just accomplished this one on Mother’s Day! My brother, my mom and I went to Belvedere Castle in Central Park! It had a beautiful view, but I was just so struck by there being a CASTLE in the middle of Central Park!

IMG_2479 IMG_2480

Eat the Best Donuts (2/10)

Scrumptious Creme Brulee Donut in Doughnut Plant–check!

Run the Best Races (0/5)

I’ve run a race, but it was not one of the best ones. In fact, it kind of sucked since the last mile was all uphill. Who plans that?!?!

See the Best Christmas Displays (1/10)

I mean, it’s not Christmas, so…

Experience the Best of Baltimore (3/10)

I knocked out two of these in one day! So first of all, I was supposed to have brunch at this one place in Baltimore, but then they temporarily canceled brunches, so I changed the Best Brunch to Food Market in Hampden. I had the most AMAZING French toast with Nutella. You may start drooling at any time.

Screen Shot 2016-05-12 at 2.53.44 PM

I also got to visit the Best Vintage Store in Baltimore, Milk and Ice Vintage. It was pretty cool, but definitely not the best vintage store I’ve ever been to.

via Baltimore Magazine

Finish 5 Crafts (0/5)

My crafty hands have been busy with wedding planning, but I did start one of the 5 (finally).

Have the Best Blog (3/5)

I now have over 500 Twitter followers! I’m SO close to 500 Bloglovin followers, so hopefully I’ll check off that one by the next update!

See the Best in Live Entertainment (1/5)

Not only did I get to see She Loves Me on Broadway (which I wrote about here), but I got to see one of my celebrity crushes star in it! Sigh, oh Zachary Levi.

Visit Charleston (0/1)

One of these days, I’ll get there…

So I checked off 8 more things from my list! Hopefully I’ll check off at least another 8 before the next update!

How’s your lists coming along?
