What’s Hap-Pinning Wednesday

Welcome back to another edition of What’s Hap-Pinning Wednesday! Let’s check out what’s been going on in the world of my Pinterest boards:

Hamilton Ha-Has

via

This fake text exchange between Aaron Burr and Alexander Hamilton cracked me up. Because honestly, with the exception of actually cheating on his wife, this was Hamilton’s most idiotic move. Still, he has a Tony Award-winning musical written about him, so he’s still coming out on top.

Michael Scott Fits Every Situation

via

Sure, this is a little dark, but it’s still so damn funny. Good job, kid. Please run for office–we need clever folks like you.

S’mores Obsession

We were supposed to have s’mores on Sunday night, but there was so much food at my in-laws’ house that we totally forgot. Still, the baby wants s’mores (and frankly, so do I), so I looked up some other ways to make them.

31 Day Blog Challenge

Let’s face it: we all go through writer’s block sometimes. So I love when I find lists like these to help me think of some new ideas.

Bachelorette Recap!

It’s that time again! Bachelorette season has begun!!! And this season is even better than ever! Tons of hot guys, an awesome Bachelorette and DRAMA!!!!! Here are my thoughts from last night’s episode! (Spoiler alerts y’all!)

Poor Pup

What is wrong with Rachel’s dog?? Poor pup in a cast 🙁 Copper seems to be super mobile on those three legs though!

The Kutchers?!?!?!

via

I have to say, when Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis showed up on the show, I lost my dang mind. They’re so so funny, and they’re clearly Bachelorette fans! Also, it’s so great that Ashton looked at the group right away and said to Mila that Rachel’s husband was not in that group date. Love me a man that loves some reality TV.

Lee

via

Lee creeps me out…and it’s not just because of his weird hair.

A Dean Better than Gilmore Girls Dean

via

Dean is so adorable! I used to think he was just awkward, but he’s really just a cutie!

Demario SMDH

You know, I almost put Demario in my top three. I’m so glad that I didn’t!

Top 3 Predictions

As with every season, I pick a top 3. Last season, two of my three were the final two! So here are my predictions for this season: Bryan, Kenny and Josiah. May the best man win Rachel’s heart!

Does anyone out there watch The Bachelorette?

Five on Friday

Happy Friday everyone!

Today I’m sharing five of my favorite posts that I’ve read lately!

1–1,000 Books from Love, Fun and Football

One of the things I can’t wait to do with my daughter is read to her. When Erin shared this post earlier this week, I was so excited about the challenge of reading 1,000 books to my little girl before she starts school! While it seems like a lot, if I read her one book a day, that’s 365 each year!

#2–Our World from Cupcakes and Cashmere

The writers at Cupcakes and Cashmere were on point with some of their suggestions for new products and apps this month! I’m especially excited about Milk Books and the Workflow app!

#3–Favorite Podcasts for Moms from It Starts with Coffee

I’m all about podcasts (especially with my killer commute), so I was so excited to see that there are so many out there for moms! I’m especially excited about Motherhood in Hollywood–gotta love advice from celebrity mamas!

#4–100 Day Recipe Challenge from Polka-Dotty Place

I’ve been meaning to find a way to compile my recipes, other than merely on a Pinterest board. Luckily, Whitney has encouraged me to start a 100-Day Recipe Challenge, which I just started yesterday! I’ll be so excited to have a full book of recipes in just a few months!

#5–Adulting Lately: The Little Things from In Residence

Remember when we were kids and our parents just took care of everything for us? And we didn’t even KNOW that changing vacuum filters was a thing? Well, Anne points out some of the little things that adults need to know, and I’ve got to say, my mind was blown.

Happy Birthday, Cookie Monster!

Today I want to wish the happiest of birthdays to one of my favorite creatures of all time, Cookie Monster!

via

As a huge Sesame Street fan, I have loved Cookie Monster since I was a little girl. I mean, we all wish we could eat cookies like this, right?

via

More importantly, his birthday gets me excited to continue the Sesame Street tradition with my own daughter! Will she love it as much as I did? It’s hard to say, but I can’t think of a better crew to help my child learn.

Happy birthday, Cookie Monster!

The To-Don’t List

Hi all! Sorry I’ve been a bit MIA, but pregnancy nesting is REAL! And stressful. The issue with getting pregnant soon after getting married (although I wouldn’t change it for the world) is that as soon as you’re ready to organize your wedding stuff, it’s time to make room for baby. That’s where my to-do lists come into play…except that I realized that I had accidentally made a to-don’t list.

What’s a to-don’t list, you may ask? That’s an incredibly over-ambitious to-do list. As in, I’d like to think that I’ll accomplish everything on this list today! I can totally do it, right? Well…

The thing is that I work 45 minutes to an hour away from home (if I’m lucky, based on traffic). Because of this, I leave the house before 7 in the morning, and at the earliest, I’m home at 5:30. This isn’t  usually the case, however, due to stops and errands on the way home.

Monday night, I didn’t get home until after 7. I had already given up on picking up a Carter’s order from the store, but I still thought I could accomplish everything else on my list. After dinner, I went to the grocery store to pick up the food for the next night’s meal…except they didn’t have a key ingredient. So I went to Plan B, but it added time to my grocery store experience. When I got home, I looked at the clock, saw it was after 9 and burst into tears. There was NO WAY that I was going to accomplish the items on my to-do list. My sweet husband did his best to try and help, but he finally sat me down and said, “Look, we’ll do a little at a time. Everything will get done, but just not tonight.”

So when I made Tuesday’s to-do list, I made sure that it was NOT a to-don’t list. I had a reasonable amount of tasks on the list, and even though I couldn’t accomplish a couple of them, I took a deep breath and moved them to today’s list.

Moral of the story: set reasonable goals for yourself, and if you can’t accomplish, just chill. It’s REALLY going to be ok!

My 101 in 1001 Update!

Happy Wednesday folks! I know this was supposed to be posted two days ago, but things have been a bit cray, so here’s my update!

Sooooooo here’s the sad thing…some of the places/events on my list have closed. So I’ve had to modify some things in order to TRY to get close to 101!

I’m breaking out my planner and figuring out how to accomplish some of these items before the next check-in! Here’s how things are looking so far:

Visit the Best Zoos (2/10)

Plan: See the Bronx Zoo next Mother’s Day and possibly the Cincinnati Zoo sometime before then.

Eat the Best Pizza (0/10)

Substitution: Mother Dough in L.A. has closed, so it is being replaced by Bella Pizza in North East.

Plan: Snag some pizza from Bella Pizza next week, Pizzeria Beddia in Philly in June and Tavola next Mother’s Day.

Visit the Best Coffee Shops (3/10)

Substitution: Joule Coffee in Raleigh is closed, so it is being replaced by Bean Hollow in Ellicott City.

Plan: I don’t work too far from Ellicott City, so I should be able to try that out very soon!

Visit the Best Independent Bookstores (2/10)

Plan: I think we might have our babymoon near DC, so I should be able to check off Kramerbooks.

Visit 10 Castles in the U.S. (1/10)

Plan: Before getting Pizzeria Beddia, I’ll have to hit up Grey Towers Castle and Fonthills Castle.

Eat the Best Donuts (4/10)

Substitution: Verna’s Donut Shop has closed, so it is being replaced with Sugar Shack Donuts and Coffee in Alexandria.

Plan: Before June is over, I will have Sugar Shack Donuts!

Run the Most Fun Races (0/5)

Plan: Sigh…the category may be a wash…

See the Best Christmas Displays (1/10)

Plan: Definitely checking off at least two of these next Christmas!

Experience the Best of Baltimore (3/10)

Plan: I might need to grab some fries next week…

Complete the Best Crafts of Pinterest (0/5)

Plan: Once the nursery is more complete, I’ll spend some time on these this summer.

Have the Best Blog Possible (4/5)

Plan: Just keep bloggin!

Enjoy the Best in Live Entertainment (3/5)

Substitution: Since Fun Home closed on Broadway, I replaced it with Waitress, which I saw on Mother’s Day!

Visit Charleston (0/1)

My mother, daughter and I are going next Spring!

How is your list coming along?

Eat What You Want Day!

Happy Eat What You Want Day everyone! Oh, did you not know that this was a holiday? Honestly, neither did I, but I’m all for it. Of course, I won’t go crazy and literally eat whatever I want…but if I had the choice with no fat or caloric consequences, here’s how my day would look:

Breakfast

I’d start out my day in a sweet way with chocolate chip pancakes. I’d have to get my mom to make them, since she makes the best chocolate chip pancakes in the world. I’d have a side of bacon and one of the amazing lattes that I had on my honeymoon (hey, it’s my fantasty–they can ship lattes from North Carolina!).

Lunch

When lunch came around, I’d have to head over to Pasta Mista for a few slices of my favorite pizza. Obviously, I’d get a side of fries, because why not?

Dinner

For dinner, I would have to head back over to my mom’s for her famous tacos. We’d start with chips and salsa, of course, and then dive into all the taco goodness!

What would you eat if you could eat whatever you want?

What’s Hap-Pinning Wednesday

Happy Wednesday folks! Here’s what’s been happening on my Pinterest board this week:

Adorable Birthday Parties

via

Is it weird that I’m already planning future birthday parties for this little girl? I can only hope that she’ll be a fan of Beauty and the Beast, so that Baby Girl could have a birthday party like the one that Natasha from Hello! Happiness is planning!

Oooh Spicy!

I love spicy food, and I could seriously eat chips and salsa for every meal. So this week, I was excited to find this recipe for Crockpot Chicken Fajitas from Soup of the Day:

via

and this recipe for Slow Cooker Salsa Chicken from Maebells:

via

Casseroles

via

Sometimes the easiest thing to do at the end of the day is throw together a casserole. This pin from Drizzle Me Skinny for Sloppy Joe Casserole has me drooling, and it looks so easy to put together!

Summer Blog Post Ideas

via

We had fall into a slump now and then. I’m so glad that Neely from It Starts with Coffee provided her readers with a list of 25 Summer Blog Post Ideas! I’ll definitely be putting this list to good use.

Show Us Your Books: April to May

Happy Tuesday! It’s time for another edition of Show Us Your Books! Sadly, I only finished one book this month, but it was a good one!

Life According to Steph

Nine Women, One Dress by Jane L. Rosen (4 out of 5 Stars)

via

This book was simply adorable! A light read for the romantic in me. There were comedic parts, sad parts, and in the end, happiness. Just what I needed! Oh, and even fake celebrity gossip–even better! It’s the story of how one “it dress” makes its way to 9 very different women in very different situations. Probable? Of course not. But that’s what makes a great rom-com!

Right now, I’m reading Most Wanted by Lisa Scottoline–I’ll report back on it next month!
