May Recap

Happy Tuesday folks! I’m linking up with Macy and Emelia today for my monthly recap!

Wonderful Wedding

C and I attended the beautiful wedding of C’s cousin Michelle and her now-husband Jeff. The rain held off long enough for the ceremony to take place outside, just as they had dreamed. And as the bride isn’t a fan of cake, they had an ice cream sundae bar–the preggo was VERY happy! Not only was I happy, but that was the day that I felt Baby Girl move for the first time!

Jury Duty

Sure, I’ve had to report for jury duty before, but this was the first time that I was ON a jury! Even though it meant staying late on a Friday night to decide on a verdict, I must say that it was exciting, and I would totally do it again.

I’ll Have the Pie!

On Mother’s Day, my mom and I went up to NYC to visit my brother. The three of us had a delicious brunch at Feast, and then we went to see Sara Bareilles star in Waitress! Not only was she phenomenal, but the theatre lobby smelled like pie!

Memorial Day the Right Way

As we thanked those who was served for us, my family and my in-laws all got together for a Memorial Day Weekend barbecue. Hamburgers, zucchini boats, corn on the cob…YUMMMMMMM!!!

How was your month of May? What was your favorite part?

Mama Monday–25 Weeks!

Baby Girl is the Size of an…

acorn squash!

What’s Going On In There?

This week, Baby Girl is moving around so so much! I love feeling every movement and kick. And from these kicks, this girl is ready for karate!

Any Cravings?

It really depends on the day. One day, I seriously wanted a grilled cheese sandwich, whereas another day, I really wanted frozen yogurt.

Anything Weird Symptoms?

Definitely am having hot flashes. Also, Tums have become by friend since the reflux is real.

How Am I Sleeping?

It’s almost time for me to add a pillow under my legs because I’ve been getting some hip pain, but overall I’ve slept well (except for waking up to pee).

What Do I Miss?

Missing coffee (especially iced coffee) and sushi, but I can make it another few months!

Can’t wait to meet this little girl!

I’m here today with some of my favorite blog posts of the week!

1–“Free Printable Chick Flick Game” from Studio DIY

via

I so so SO wish that I had this available the last time I needed to throw a bridal shower! This game tests your knowledge of your favorite chick flicks, and if I know my friends, we would have taken this VERY seriously!

2–“7 Things to Include in Your Media Kit” from It Starts with Coffee

via

Sure, part of blogging is about the love of writing, but it doesn’t hurt to get paid every once in a while! Building a media kit is an important part of making some money off of blogging, and Neely has written a fantastic post about the essentials of a successful media kit.

3–“The Perk That Comes with Pregnancy: Oh Hey, Boobs!” from Sept. Farm

via

I was so excited to read that Karli from Sept. Farm was having another baby! I was even more excited when I saw this post, where she features some amazing pregnancy and nursing bras from Cake Maternity (the boob struggle is real, y’all). If you’re a mama-to-be or a nursing mom, DEFINITELY check out this post!

4–“The Best (Useful) Wedding Gifts Give this Wedding Season” from Just Bee

via

Wedding season is certainly upon us, and with wedding season comes wedding gifts. I’ve never been one who is comfortable with just giving a check, so I like to be both creative and helpful when giving gifts. Hannah put together a great list of gifts that the happy couple is bound to use and love!

Confessional Thursday

It’s that time of the week, folks. Almost the weekend, things are winding down, and we’re ready for some confessions. Some people may not agree with my confessions/opinions, but hey, that’s what starts lively discussions!

I Don’t Like Sausage

Many people think of sausage as one of the staples of the breakfast world. Not me. I think the texture is weird, and don’t try to offer me kielbasa or bratwurst. None of it is going to fly with me. #bringonthebacon

I Think Meredith is One of the Worst Characters on Grey’s Anatomy

via GIPHY

I know, I know, it’s called GREY’S Anatomy, but I still think that at least 90% of the time (with the exception of the end of this season’s finale), Meredith makes really selfish or cowardly moves. Of course, she’s had a really rough life, and I don’t know how I’d deal if my mother killed herself, my father blamed me for his wife’s death, my sister died in a plane crash and my husband died before my eyes. But still…she’s far from my favorite. #Baileyforme

I Need To Stop Eating Out

I’m doing my very very best to eat in a more healthy fashion during this pregnancy, but it seems like every time I’m ready to be healthier, something happens that brings on the fatty and greasy foods. Memorial Day cookouts, lack of food prep time, celebration dinners, special events…they seem never ending!! And when I’m at these events, I just don’t have the willpower to say, “I’ll skip dessert, thanks.” #canIjuststayhome

What’s Hap-Pinning Wednesday

Welcome back to another edition of What’s Hap-Pinning Wednesday! Let’s check out what’s been going on in the world of my Pinterest boards:

Hamilton Ha-Has

via

This fake text exchange between Aaron Burr and Alexander Hamilton cracked me up. Because honestly, with the exception of actually cheating on his wife, this was Hamilton’s most idiotic move. Still, he has a Tony Award-winning musical written about him, so he’s still coming out on top.

Michael Scott Fits Every Situation

Sure, this is a little dark, but it’s still so damn funny. Good job, kid. Please run for office–we need clever folks like you.

S’mores Obsession

We were supposed to have s’mores on Sunday night, but there was so much food at my in-laws’ house that we totally forgot. Still, the baby wants s’mores (and frankly, so do I), so I looked up some other ways to make them.

31 Day Blog Challenge

Let’s face it: we all go through writer’s block sometimes. So I love when I find lists like these to help me think of some new ideas.

Bachelorette Recap!

It’s that time again! Bachelorette season has begun!!! And this season is even better than ever! Tons of hot guys, an awesome Bachelorette and DRAMA!!!!! Here are my thoughts from last night’s episode! (Spoiler alerts y’all!)

Poor Pup

What is wrong with Rachel’s dog?? Poor pup in a cast 🙁 Copper seems to be super mobile on those three legs though!

The Kutchers?!?!?!

via

I have to say, when Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis showed up on the show, I lost my dang mind. They’re so so funny, and they’re clearly Bachelorette fans! Also, it’s so great that Ashton looked at the group right away and said to Mila that Rachel’s husband was not in that group date. Love me a man that loves some reality TV.

Lee

via

Lee creeps me out…and it’s not just because of his weird hair.

A Dean Better than Gilmore Girls Dean

via

Dean is so adorable! I used to think he was just awkward, but he’s really just a cutie!

Demario SMDH

You know, I almost put Demario in my top three. I’m so glad that I didn’t!

Top 3 Predictions

As with every season, I pick a top 3. Last season, two of my three were the final two! So here are my predictions for this season: Bryan, Kenny and Josiah. May the best man win Rachel’s heart!

Does anyone out there watch The Bachelorette?

Five on Friday

Happy Friday everyone!

via GIPHY

Today I’m sharing five of my favorite posts that I’ve read lately!

1–1,000 Books from Love, Fun and Football

One of the things I can’t wait to do with my daughter is read to her. When Erin shared this post earlier this week, I was so excited about the challenge of reading 1,000 books to my little girl before she starts school! While it seems like a lot, if I read her one book a day, that’s 365 each year!

#2–Our World from Cupcakes and Cashmere

The writers at Cupcakes and Cashmere were on point with some of their suggestions for new products and apps this month! I’m especially excited about Milk Books and the Workflow app!

#3–Favorite Podcasts for Moms from It Starts with Coffee

I’m all about podcasts (especially with my killer commute), so I was so excited to see that there are so many out there for moms! I’m especially excited about Motherhood in Hollywood–gotta love advice from celebrity mamas!

#4–100 Day Recipe Challenge from Polka-Dotty Place

I’ve been meaning to find a way to compile my recipes, other than merely on a Pinterest board. Luckily, Whitney has encouraged me to start a 100-Day Recipe Challenge, which I just started yesterday! I’ll be so excited to have a full book of recipes in just a few months!

#5–Adulting Lately: The Little Things from In Residence

Remember when we were kids and our parents just took care of everything for us? And we didn’t even KNOW that changing vacuum filters was a thing? Well, Anne points out some of the little things that adults need to know, and I’ve got to say, my mind was blown.

Happy Birthday, Cookie Monster!

Today I want to wish the happiest of birthdays to one of my favorite creatures of all time, Cookie Monster!

via

As a huge Sesame Street fan, I have loved Cookie Monster since I was a little girl. I mean, we all wish we could eat cookies like this, right?

via

More importantly, his birthday gets me excited to continue the Sesame Street tradition with my own daughter! Will she love it as much as I did? It’s hard to say, but I can’t think of a better crew to help my child learn.

Happy birthday, Cookie Monster!

The To-Don’t List

Hi all! Sorry I’ve been a bit MIA, but pregnancy nesting is REAL! And stressful. The issue with getting pregnant soon after getting married (although I wouldn’t change it for the world) is that as soon as you’re ready to organize your wedding stuff, it’s time to make room for baby. That’s where my to-do lists come into play…except that I realized that I had accidentally made a to-don’t list.

What’s a to-don’t list, you may ask? That’s an incredibly over-ambitious to-do list. As in, I’d like to think that I’ll accomplish everything on this list today! I can totally do it, right? Well…

The thing is that I work 45 minutes to an hour away from home (if I’m lucky, based on traffic). Because of this, I leave the house before 7 in the morning, and at the earliest, I’m home at 5:30. This isn’t  usually the case, however, due to stops and errands on the way home.

Monday night, I didn’t get home until after 7. I had already given up on picking up a Carter’s order from the store, but I still thought I could accomplish everything else on my list. After dinner, I went to the grocery store to pick up the food for the next night’s meal…except they didn’t have a key ingredient. So I went to Plan B, but it added time to my grocery store experience. When I got home, I looked at the clock, saw it was after 9 and burst into tears. There was NO WAY that I was going to accomplish the items on my to-do list. My sweet husband did his best to try and help, but he finally sat me down and said, “Look, we’ll do a little at a time. Everything will get done, but just not tonight.”

So when I made Tuesday’s to-do list, I made sure that it was NOT a to-don’t list. I had a reasonable amount of tasks on the list, and even though I couldn’t accomplish a couple of them, I took a deep breath and moved them to today’s list.

Moral of the story: set reasonable goals for yourself, and if you can’t accomplish, just chill. It’s REALLY going to be ok!
