Five on Friday: 5 Blog Posts that Made My Week

Happy Friday one and all! Y’all know you were ready for this!

My favorite bloggers were just killin’ it this week with posts that were both helpful and fun to read! Here are five of my favorites!

1. “30 Miles in 30 Days” from Love, Fun and Football

I need all the motivation I can get to exercise these days, and regular readers of this blog know that I can’t resist a challenge. Can I get to 30 miles of walking in the next 30 days? I’m sure that I can with Erin’s support!

2. “Vivian Kate/Nursery Reveal” from Davis Duo

I have been anxiously awaiting Owen’s nursery reveal for her precious little girl–and she did not disappoint! All of the delicate touches that she added make Vivian’s nursery so gorgeous. It’s giving me inspiration for my own little girl’s nursery!

3. “Blogger Walls + Insta Photo Challenge” from Soup of the Day

Again, back to challenges and my obsession with them. I often forgot about Instagram, but then some of my bloggers friends like Megan come p with a great Insta Photo Challenge that gets me excited about snapping pictures!

4. “WHW (#86): My Pregnancy Essentials” from Going the Distance

As I get further along in this pregnancy (16 weeks on Sunday!), I love getting advice from other mamas-to-be. Jenn has suggested some awesome items that I am definitely going to use, especially the Hiccapop Wedge once my belly gets too big to sleep comfortably.

5. “12 Things I Didn’t Know About Babies…Until I Had One” from A Healthy Slice of Life

Yup, this has been a very baby-centric Five on Friday, but hey, I’ve got babies on the brain and can’t help it! I loved this post from Brittany, who has two adorable little girls. It’s such an honest post, and I was so happy to see what she said about the importance of learning to swaddle, since I definitely want to learn that before the little girl comes along. And I think she’s totally right about how the holidays will become so much more special once I’m sharing it with this little one.

What are some posts that you’ve loved this week?

Books ‘N’ Bloggers Swap–The Big Reveal!

Happy Thursday all! Seriously, aren’t weeks so much better when you only have to work four days? And weeks are seriously the BEST when you get to talk about books received from a super fun swap!

The Books 'n' Bloggers Swap at Chaotic Goddess Swaps

For the Chaotic Goddess Books ‘N Bloggers Swap, I was lucky enough to be paired up with Beth Ann of It’s Just Life. She’s so sweet and incredibly friendly! Plus, she loves kitties and books, so I knew I’d like her right away! Her book wish list had several books that I already read and loved, so choosing what to send her was incredibly difficult. But let me tell you about the great books she sent me!

Book from My Wish List

One of the books had to be a book from a wish list that I shared with her. Beth Ann sent me The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin. I’ve been wanting to read this book for forever, since I think we could all use a little more happiness in our lives. I can’t wait to get rolling with this one!

Book She’s Read and Enjoyed

Another way that Beth Ann is a kindred spirit is that she sent me a book about one of my favorite authors, Harper Lee. The Mockingbird Next Door: Life with Harper Lee by Marja Mills looks just PERFECT for my former English-teacher self!

Book She Wants to Read

I’ve been getting into mysteries more and more, and As Sick as Our Secrets by Adair Sanders looks like it’s right up my alley!

In addition to three fantastic books, Beth Ann included a ton of fun goodies that just truly made my day. An adorable bookmark, book plates, coffee and CHOCOLATE! Honestly, aren’t blogger friends just the best?!

Have you read any of these books? What did you think? Thank you again so much, Beth Ann! Make sure to check out her blog!

Check Out More Bloggers!

I had so much fun introducing all of you to some bloggers on Tuesday, so I thought I’d do it again! Here are some more bloggers that I absolutely adore!

Brittany from A Healthy Slice of Life

It seems like some of my favorite bloggers are also mothers of two! Brittany’s little girls are just the cutest things, and she always has the best stories about them. What I love about Brittany’s blog is that I always feel like I’m learning something new about motherhood: how to feed the kids (and adults) healthy and delicious things, how to start baby-led weaning, how to keep the kids entertained, and how to stay grounded through it all!

Healthy Breakfast Burritos for the Freezer

If I’m Being Honest

Meg from Borrowed Heaven

Meg lives in one of my dream cities: Charleston, SC. Seriously, I am just dying to go there! But Meg is always sharing the most fun recipes and awesome experiences on her blog! She’s someone who I feel like I could talk to forever, if we were to meet up in person–and hopefully I’ll get to soon!

Charleston Culinary Tours: Upper King Street

Chicken Parmesan Calzone

Kristin from Mama and Mou

Kristin is so unbelievably sweet. When I need a guest-blogger or a question answered for a post, she always responds right away! Her kids are incredibly precious, and when she was pregnant with baby Nolan, I must say that I stalked her Instagram hard, because I was so excited to meet the newest member of their clan! I hope to make my way to the Midwest and meet her in person in the near future!

Nolan’s Nursery

Advanced Motherhood

Megan from Soup of the Day

I finally got to meet Megan yesterday, and she’s just as great in person as she is on her blog! I must admit that over the years, I had begun to get disenchanted with Baltimore, but she has taught me to love the city again! Plus, she includes dairy-free recipes on her blog, which really helps, since C is lactose-intolerant. Oh, and her pup is the cutest thing everrrrrrr.

Blogtember: Baltimore Coffee Shops

SOTD Eats: Dairy-Free Shepherd’s Pie

Linking up with East Coast Chic for Thoughts for Thursday!!

Check Out Some Bloggers!

For those of us who are bloggers, we spend so much time on creating meaningful content. I know that I always love when people compliment my posts, so I thought I would highlight a few of my favorite bloggers and some of their best posts!

Macy from To Travel and Beyond

Screen Shot 2016-08-15 at 8.52.58 PM

Regular readers of the blog know that Macy and I have known each other for 11 years. She’s even going to be a bridesmaid in my wedding in less than 2 months! Macy works at the same tech company as I do, but she’s a wedding planner on the side, so you know that she always has great wedding tips. In addition, she loves to travel, so her readers get to follow her as she treks across the world!

A Delightful Evening in Dubrovnik, Croatia

25 Pre-Wedding Post Ideas

Christina from Carolina Charm

I love reading about Christina’s family, including her two cutie pie children, Caroline and Thomas. Christina shows such strength, as she had a double mastectomy and helps her baby boy who has congenital cataracts. But through it all, she stays joyful and positive, all with that good ole Southern charm!

Prophylactic Bilateral Mastectomy

Thomas’ Pizza and Popsicles 1st Birthday Party!

Chelsea from The Girl Who Loved to Write

Deep Thoughts + ADORABLE BABY = Chelsea. Well, that’s the simplified equation, but really it’s what I think of when I think of Chelsea’s blog. First of all, she’s an incredibly entertaining writer who tackles deep issues in a way that is so relatable. Secondly, her little boy Jack is just the cutest thing, and I love it when she shares pictures of him! Even though this isn’t part of the equation above, I really enjoy reading about Chelsea’s life as the wife of a doctor–I feel like I’m learning so much about the life of medical professionals and their families through her!

The Optimism of a New Start

Twenty-Four Weeks with Jack: All of the Pictures

Nadine from Life by Nadine Lynn

I was just telling my mom today that when I get pregnant, I want to be just like Nadine! Okay, real talk, I wanted to be like Nadine even before she got pregnant, but really because I feel as though we would be BFFs if we were in the same state. And there’s nothing like reading the blog of someone who you would like to be your best friend!

Don’t you worry, folks! I’ve got more bloggers to share later this week! In the meantime, are there any bloggers I should check out?

My 2nd Blogiversary (with a Giveaway)!!!

My 2nd Blogiversary

Happy Monday everyone!

I’m so excited to announce that yesterday was my second blogiversary!!

The pups really don't seem to care...or maybe they were up all night celebrating?
The pups really don’t seem to care…or maybe they were up all night celebrating?

You may have read this before, but I started blogging because I was inspired by my friend, Macy. I was really needing an outlet for writing, and at the time, I was in a job where the most I ever wrote was an email, trying to soothe an angry consumer 🙁 But knowing that I could come home at the end of the day and write about things that I enjoyed greatly lifted my spirits!

I feel like I’ve learned so much over the past two years:

I can only track how well my posts have done since the start of this year, but here are my top 6 most popular posts of 2016 (so far):

To celebrate my blogiversary and to thank you for taking the time to read my occasionally silly thoughts, I’m hosting a giveaway!

Posts I’ve Loved Lately

Happy Wednesday folks!

I haven’t given a proper shout-out to some of my favorite bloggers lately, so while I put myself in a time-out for being so neglectful, I thought I’d share some of my favorite posts from the last couple of weeks!

5 Reasons You Should Talk to a Therapist (Even if You’re NOT Crazy) from The Fairy Princess Diaries

It’s sad, but therapy has gotten to be such a taboo topic. Most people think that the only reason to see a therapist is if you’re “crazy,” but as someone who has grown up with a psychotherapist for a mother, I know that this is not the case AT ALL! Jordyn’s post really points out that therapy has SO many benefits, and I totally agree that everyone should have a yearly mental health exam in addition to all the annual physical exams.

Big Sister Interview from Mama and Mou

Kenley is about to be a big sister for the first time, so her mom Kristin asked her some questions about her expectations and thoughts on her soon-to-arrive baby brother. If any post is going to make you laugh and then almost bring you to tears, it’s this one!

Baby Jack: A Birth Story (Part 2) from The Girl Who Loved to Write

Chelsea had me totally hooked after reading Part One of Jack’s birth story back in January. Having a husband bribe you with Chick Fila in order to get you to the hospital? Yep, sounds like me. But Part Two is even better! And it completely reassures me about one of the parts of labor that I assumed would be scary.

5 Tips for Engaged Life from The Free and Wild Blog

As I’m hoping hoping HOPING to be engaged soon, this post came at just the right time. Annie’s tips for how to enjoy your engagement without getting all wrapped up in crazy details is just perfect.

Our Journey to Disneyland Paris from To Travel and Beyond

Being friends in real life as well as in blog life, I heard this story firsthand from Macy a couple of months ago. It’s one of those stories where you find yourself saying, “No…you’re kidding!” time and time again. Getting to read it in blog form just make me shake my head again and marvel at the fortitude of my friends…and chuckle a little because SERIOUSLY?!?!?! How does this happen?!

Going Dairy Free from Soup of the Day

Boyfriend is lactose-intolerant, but whenever we have a cheesy meal, he always takes a Lactaid pill and goes along with it, not wanting to cause a fuss. Until I read Megan’s post, I had no idea that he could still be feeling tired or out of sorts even WITH Lactaid. In fact, after reading this post, I texted Boyfriend and told him that I felt like I understood him better and that I was going to do all I can to make our diet for dairy-free. Luckily, Megan gives some great suggestions on how to do this, too!

Are there any blog posts that you’ve especially loved lately?

Blogger Crushes (Or Bloggers Who I’d Love to Be!)

When in the world of blogging, it’s very hard NOT to be envious of other bloggers. You start looking at the pictures of their beautiful clothes, their gorgeous weddings, their happy families, and you wish that you could just jump right into their lives and join them!

I attribute these feeling to “blogger crushes.” These crushes aren’t like my John Krasinski or Zachary Levi crushes, as there aren’t any romantic feelings involved. There’s just something about the lives of these ladies that makes me wish that I could be them, or at the very least, it makes me wish that I could have their lives (or clothes) for just a couple of days.

Here are some of my ultimate Blogger Crushes:

Caitlin from Southern Curls & Pearls

First of all, Caitlin’s hair is always super perfect. I could spend hours on my hair, and it would NEVER look like that. She also has the most amazing clothes and travels to such exotically fantastic locations. Even her pajamas are adorable. Caitlin, could I just have one of your purses PLEEEASE?

Jordyn from The Fairy Princess Diaries

Jordyn is another one of those gals with an enviable wardrobe (the butterfly sandals from this post are AMAZING). In addition to her gorgeous clothes, Jordyn works as a bridal salon and gets to try on the dresses all the time! That would be a dream come TRUE for me!

Gina from The Fitnessista

When it comes to being fit, Gina is a powerhouse! She teaches fitness classes, comes up with incredible fitness routines, and looks fantastic after giving birth to two girls! She recently launched her Post-Baby Bod plan, which I know I’m keeping in mind for when I have little ones. Oh, and her daughters are just the cutest things ever!

Allison from Allison Holker

I’ve been a HUGE fan of Allison’s since her days as a contestant on So You Think You Can Dance. Already the mama of a gorgeous little girl, Allison is now married to Stephen “Twitch” Boss (from Ellen and So You Think You Can Dance), and they just welcomed their baby boy on Easter Sunday! Mainly, I would love to be able to dance like a superstar even while super pregnant (as Allison did as her baby shower!).

Do you have a particular blogger crush? I always love hearing about new blogs to read!

Love That Blog!

Are all of you ready for some of the best posts from the blogger world this week? Well here you go!

Winter Shape Up 2016 from The Fitnessista

Have you joined up with the Winter Shape Up? Why not??? Gina and Annie have put together a great workout and nutrition program to get you ready for a super healthy 2016!

I’ve Never Been So Thankful from The Girl Who Loved to Write

Chelsea just gave birth to baby Jack, and her description of how thankful she is to be a mom brought tears to my eyes. Have tissues ready!

My Favorite Link-Ups from To Travel and Beyond

Are you ready to grow your group of blogger friends and readers? Macy has compiled a list of the link-ups for every day of the week AND special ones that happen once a month. This is a definite must-read for all bloggers!

BBQ Pulled Pork Pop Tarts from Spoon Fork Bacon

Pulled pork is delicious. Pop Tarts are delicious. Put the two together? Absolute heaven.

Reverse Bucket List from The Wild and Free Blog

Anyone can make a bucket list, but how about one that celebrates all of the things you’ve already accomplished? Annie’s list is fantastic!

Friday Five: My 200th Post!

Happy Friday all!

Hey guys, guess what?  Guess what guess what GUESS WHAT????  This is my 200th post!!!
Wow…I’m letting this all sink in.  It feels like A LOT, but I know that it’s only the beginning!  There are many more stories, memories and pictures of my puppies to come!
Anyway, being that it’s Five on Friday, I’m going to list 5 things that I have learned about blogging thus far (although trust me, I’ve got so much more to learn!):
1. A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words–I’m still working on the whole “taking quality pictures” thing, but I feel so much better about posts that have fun or pretty pictures attached to them.  And I’m not only talking about the pictures of my pups, but here’s one anyway:
2. Ask For Help and Acknowledge It–I’ve been so lucky to have a blogging mentor in Macy, who has been so helpful in steering me towards have a successful blog without losing the fun in writing it.  And goodness knows, if I decide to move over to WordPress in 2016 (which is a very likely scenario), I’ll need even more help from her then!  I know that I thank her in a gushy fashion all the time, but it’s important to acknowledge those who have helped you, especially if you are linking up with them or if something they have written has given you an idea.  Maybe it’s just the former English teacher in me who is a stickler for citing sources, but seriously, if someone gave you some help or an idea, let the world know!
3. Be Yourself–I’m not a fashion blogger.  Seriously, I know that fashion blogs are very popular, but I will never be that person because even though I like to dress up cute when I can, most of my life is spent in jeans and a graphic tee.  But I’m not trying to be a fashion blogger–I’m being myself, Muppet obsession and all!
4. It’s Okay to Miss a Day–Life gets busy. And blogging is supposed to be FUN! So why would you stress yourself out if you don’t have time to blog one day?  The Blog Police will not come after you.  Although side note, if there is a Blog Police, their uniforms must be adorable.
5. When In Doubt, Use a Gif of Stephen Colbert Dancing

Next week, I’ll be blogging from Asheville, North Carolina!  Stay tuned for pretty pretty Asheville pics and stories of me eating ALL THE FOODS!
I linked up with some fabulous blogs for:
