June is a busy month for C and I because both of our puppies celebrate their birthdays within 10 days of each other. And hey, they may be dogs, but they still love being celebrated! So we make sure to do special things for each pup, since every year that we have with them is precious.
Each of the pups has a favorite food. Linus loves pork, and Emmy loves…well, everything. So we make sure that they each get a special meal for their birthdays. And in true sibling fashion, the other gets to share.
Linus plays HARD with his toys, so his favorite balls and rings often don’t have long lives in our house. So we try to get him at least one new toy for his birthday with fresh squeaks!
Treats that Keep Them Healthy
Every pup loves a good treat, and C and I really want our pups to enjoy their treats while making sure they’re really benefiting the health of the dogs. Zesty Paws offers two different treats and a salmon oil supplement that really help keep our pups in their best health.
The Zesty Paws Mobility Bites are great for the pups’ hips and joints. We were told recently that Emmy’s knees are not the best, so anything that we can give her to strengthen those joints makes both her parents and the puppy happy!
You know how people are always told to take fish oil? Apparently, it helps out dogs, too! Adding Zesty Paws Pure Salmon Oil to your dogs’ food is another way to support their skin and coats, leaving them both comfortable and looking fabulous!
The pups will be treated with all 3 of these for their birthdays…and everyday after!
Do you have any special birthday traditions for your pets?
Happy Friday all! This weekend, C is camping, so I’ll be spending some extra quality time with my two favorite pups, Linus and Emmy. And thinking of them made me start pondering the dogs of my youth, both real and fictional. So for today’s Five on Friday, I’ve reviewing five of my favorite fictional dogs!
Clifford the Big Red Dog
With the exception of a Labrador that we owned for a short while, most of our dogs growing up were very small. So by contrast, the thought of an enormous dog like Clifford was just incredible! Plus, any dog that can help get a little girl and her friends out of trouble was number one in my book.
Another childhood favorite, Spot from the book series by Eric Hill was a mischievous little pup. He would hide from his mother or sometimes be on the search for other objects. Either way, I would get to uncover flaps in the pop-up books, which endeared me even more to the character.
A mean old lady can’t keep Toto from his Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz! That sly little terrier hopped right out of that basket and ran all the way home. I’d like to believe that Emmy would do the same if she were taken from me…although she’s not the best jumper…
One of my favorite episodes of Full House is the one where Comet and his brothers and sisters are born in the Tanner household. And it always cracked me up that Michelle chooses the puppy that loves Uncle Jesse’s bed (reminds me of Linus SO much).
There’s nothing like some true words of wisdom, and sometimes I wish that I knew what dogs were thinking so that they could pass on that wisdom, much like Trusty from Lady and the Tramp. “As my grandpappy, Ole Reliable used to say…”
It’s Friday! Mom and Dad are at work, so I took over Mom’s laptop to voice a few of my opinions about how to include your dogs in your wedding registry.
When Mom and Dad got engaged, I thought I was going to get to go to the wedding. Apparently, that isn’t the case 🙁 I mean, I get it. I’m not HUGELY fond of strangers or loud noises, so I get why I’m not invited. But I still wanted to be included! Luckily they included my brother and me on their registry.
As we’re part of the family, I knew that Mom and Dad would think of us when creating their registry. I made some suggestions, and here are a few things they included!
My brother Linus and I have a lot of toys. Right now, we only have a tiny toy box, and so the toys very quickly overflow into all the rooms of the house. A toy box like this allows us to take out toys when we need them, but Mom and Dad can easily open the top to drop them in after we’re done!
Clearly, this is more to celebrate Linus than me, but I’ll allow it. Mom and Dad needed a kitchen mat, and I didn’t want them stepping on my face when they do dishes, but they can step on my brother’s face all they want 😉
Those of you who regularly read my blog know that I am lucky enough to be the mama to two precious pups. As it is National Puppy Day, I will celebrate by sharing some of my favorite pictures and stories of these creatures 🙂
Breed: Shih Tzu (allegedy–the person that we bought her from insisted that both her parents are shih tzus although they could only provide a picture of the father)
Age: 8 years
Likes: Playing fetch, letting her complaints be known through whining, and tacos. Yes, tacos. Once we went to my mom’s house for tacos, and she made one for Emmy and set it on the floor. When I protested, my mom said, “I know you don’t want her eating people food, but Emmy likes tacos.”
Dislikes: The stairs in our house, sirens and being cared for my anyone who isn’t Boyfriend, my mom or myself. Seriously, when Boyfriend and I went to Florida, my roommate tried to take care of her, but she allegedly stayed under our bed for almost three days 🙁
Breed: Labradoodledoo (3/4 poodle, 1/4 labrador)
Age: 2 years
Likes: Playing fetch, running, being chased, and Double Cooked Pork. Okay, I don’t know if that last one is true, but he does seem EXTRA interested in our dinners whenever Boyfriend orders that particular dish.
Dislikes: Sneezes. He HATES them. If any of us sneeze, he leaves the room.
I’m so lucky to have these pups in my life! Happy National Puppy Day cutie pies!
