Happy Tuesday folks! I’m linking up with Macy and Emelia today for my monthly recap!
C and I attended the beautiful wedding of C’s cousin Michelle and her now-husband Jeff. The rain held off long enough for the ceremony to take place outside, just as they had dreamed. And as the bride isn’t a fan of cake, they had an ice cream sundae bar–the preggo was VERY happy! Not only was I happy, but that was the day that I felt Baby Girl move for the first time!
Sure, I’ve had to report for jury duty before, but this was the first time that I was ON a jury! Even though it meant staying late on a Friday night to decide on a verdict, I must say that it was exciting, and I would totally do it again.
I’ll Have the Pie!
On Mother’s Day, my mom and I went up to NYC to visit my brother. The three of us had a delicious brunch at Feast, and then we went to see Sara Bareilles star in Waitress! Not only was she phenomenal, but the theatre lobby smelled like pie!
Memorial Day the Right Way
As we thanked those who was served for us, my family and my in-laws all got together for a Memorial Day Weekend barbecue. Hamburgers, zucchini boats, corn on the cob…YUMMMMMMM!!!
How was your month of May? What was your favorite part?
Happy Tuesday everyone! Today I’m giving you a recap of my April, and of course linking up with Macy and Emelia:
Beer, Bourbon and BBQ
April started off with the Beer, Bourbon and BBQ Festival at the Timonium Fairgrounds! While I couldn’t partake in any of the beer or bourbon, I happily indulged in some yummy barbecue and went to town on some hush puppies.
Dining with Friends
I joined my friend Jessica for a delicious brunch at Food Market in Hampden. I managed to behave and not get the French toast, but I still had a few of the complimentary donut holes. My friend Aileen and I happily chowed down on Mexican food at Don Pablo’s (gotta love them chips and salsa). Mom and I met up with one of our favorite mother-daughter combos, Bev and Cait, for dinner at the Mt. Washington Tavern, and I got to have my favorite pizza from Pasta Mista with my cousin Robin.
C’s brother and his wife just bought a new house a few miles from us and have been spending tireless hours fixing it up. We were so excited that it was finally ready for our eyes and we encouraged a housewarming party which coincided with my nephew’s birthday. I can’t wait until they open up their pool!
As is tradition, we spent Easter Sunday with C’s family at his aunt’s farm. The girls lost the scavenger hunt this year, but next year, we’ll have another baby girl in the mix to help us out!
Celebrating Baby Veech
My mom, my niece, my cousin and I threw a Harry Potter-themed baby shower for our friends! You can read more about it here.
My coworkers and I saw the musical Something Rotten at the Hippodrome, which made it the second time I have seen Adam Pascal sing live (sigh of happiness). The entire show was hilarious and so well done–I’d love to see it again!
Beer, Burgers and Donuts
Yet another beer-based event (C and his brother just love ’em), but this time, I could indulge in TWO of the three titled items…except that when we got to the restaurant, there were only two burgers left. It was fine with me though, and I told C and his brother to take them.
Happy Friday everyone! Today is going to be a great day because we get our anatomy ultrasound of our baby girl! Eeeek! But I have to thank Chelsea from The Girl Who Loved to Write for the idea for today’s post. I went through the pictures on my phone and wanted to make sure to mention some of these moments that I don’t want to forget.
I want to remember…
Every one of these Linus snuggles, especially when he snuggles against my belly and his baby sister…
My joy and surprise when I saw how adorable the onesies turned out at last weekend’s baby shower…
The look of this little pup snagging some sunshine…
Going through the precious baby clothes from my friends and finding gems like this…
Time for another monthly recap with Macy and Emelia! Today, I’ll tell you about the exciting events in March!
On March 5th, my mom started frantically calling me early in the morning. I had my ringer off and didn’t notice (oops!), until I finally looked at the phone and called her back in a panic. I was sure that something was wrong, but instead she informed me that my doctor had called her with the results of my bloodwork (we had planned this so my mom could surprise us!). Not only was the baby totally healthy, but she knew the gender and asked if we could gather together that night to reveal it!
We made the arrangements and met at my in-laws house for the big reveal (and a spaghetti dinner). My mother-in-law and my mom did a fantastic job putting together an adorable gender reveal party!
When it was time to open the secret box, C and I were thrilled when this balloon popped out!
Telling Our Friends and Family
The following Tuesday, we had an ultrasound to doubly check that everything was healthy with our little girl (and it was!). Then I finally felt free to tell the world about our exciting news!
And some of the responses we received made me cry and laugh (like this one from my cousin):
Finally Some Snow!
Of course the big snow of the year comes in March (sigh, Mother Nature). But it was great because C and I worked from home together for two days and ate some deliciously prepared food in the crockpot! Most important, the pups got to play in the snow, and, well, at least the big one loved it 😉
Celebrating the Bride!
C’s cousin Michelle is getting married next month, and we toasted her at her tropical-themed Bridal Shower. Her family and bridesmaids created such an adorable atmosphere, and everyone had a great time!
Celebrating My Husband!
C’s birthday was the last week of March, so we celebrated his birthday with a few different occasions, including a pizza lunch (with flourless chocolate cake) at his parents’ house.
I got him a set of Moscow Mule mugs, since they seem to be his new favorite drink!
What I Watched
The People vs. OJ Simpson–dang that was a compelling mini-series (although I could have done without the romantic hinting between Marcia Clark and Christopher Darden…unless that really happened?). Seriously, though, Sarah Paulson was AMAZING as Marcia Clark!
This is Us–I blew threw the first season of this show like lightning! Honestly, it might be my new favorite show. Sorry, Game of Thrones, but Randall is just too amazing of a character! I now am soooooo ready for more episodes in the fall and have my concerns about some of the characters, and I really hope everything will turn out okay!
Grey’s Anatomy–Ya know, I’m kind of getting tired of this show. But I’ve stuck to it since the beginning, so I feel like I need to stick with it now…and it’s almost the finale, when all the good stuff happens, so hopefully this season finale won’t disappoint! Oh, and Jackson and April forever!
It’s the first Tuesday of the month, so it’s time to recap February with Emelia and Macy! Keep reading til the end–there’s a great surprise!
The first Saturday in February was spent with a group of our friends, making pizzas and playing games. Well, that was the initial idea. The pizza-making took a LOT longer than anticipated, so instead we made pizzas, and I bailed after one game of Uno.
I gathered with my in-laws for our yearly viewing of the Superbowl! Delicious (although super spicy) chili was consumed, and I was lauded for bringing Diablo Donuts for dessert. I thought Lady Gaga did an AWESOME job, but my personal favorite was the ladies from Hamilton.
I celebrated Galentine’s Day with a few of my best gals (and hopefully made Leslie Knope proud!)
We celebrated my brother-in-law’s birthday twice: once at B. A Bolton Hill Bistro and once with pizza at his house.
That’s right! I spent the month of February keeping this very big secret, but I’m having a baby girl in September! I’ll be talking more about our journey to pregnancy in the blog, but right now, I’m OVER THE MOON with excitement!! Current moms, I could use all the advice you have!
